Êàê ðàç â ýòîò ìîìåíò Ñèêêñó ïîä ðóêó ïîäâåðíóëñÿ Òîììè Ëè (Òîìàñ Ëè Áàññ, ð. 3 îêòÿáðÿ 1962, Ãðåöèÿ), òåðçàâøèé áàðàáàííóþ óñòàíîâêó â "Suite 19", è âìåñòå îíè çàíÿëèñü ïîäáîðîì îñòàëüíûõ ÷ëåíîâ ãðóïïû. Ïåðâûì, êòî ïîïàë â èõ ïîëå çðåíèÿ, ñòàë "ãðîìêèé ãðóáûé àãðåññèâíûé ãèòàðèñò" (òàê áûëî íàïèñàíî â îáúÿâëåíèè) Ìèê Ìàðñ (Áîá Äèë, ð. 3 àïðåëÿ 1956), ÷üåé õàðàêòåðèñòèêè âïîëíå õâàòèëî äëÿ ïðèåìà â øòàò. Ñ ïîÿâëåíèåì âîêàëèñòà Âèíñà Íåéëà (Âèíñ Íåéë Âàðòîí, ð. 8 ôåâðàëÿ 1961) ñîñòàâ áûë îêîí÷àòåëüíî óêîìïëåêòîâàí, è "Motley Crue" ðèíóëèñü â áîé. Âûïóñòèâ â èþíå 1981-ãî ñèíãë "Stick to your guns", ãðóïïà àêòèâèçèðîâàëà êîíöåðòíóþ äåÿòåëüíîñòü è äîâîëüíî áûñòðî çàâîåâàëà ïîïóëÿðíîñòü â îêðåñòíîñòÿõ Ëîñ-Àíäæåëåñà.  êîíöå ãîäà "Motley Crue" èñïåêëè ïåðâûé âèíèëîâûé áëèí ïîä íàçâàíèåì "Too fast for love". Íåñìîòðÿ íà òî, ÷òî àëüáîì, òàêæå êàê è ñèíãë, áûë èçäàí ñâîèìè ñèëàìè, åãî òèðàæ ñîñòàâèë âíóøèòåëüíóþ öèôðó â 20000 êîïèé. Íîâîÿâëåííîé ïåðñïåêòèâíîé êîìàíäîé çàèíòåðåñîâàëàñü ôèðìà "Elektra records", êîòîðàÿ âçÿëà "MC" ïîä ñâîþ îïåêó è ïåðåèçäàëà "Too fast for love".  1983-ì ïîñëå ãàñòðîëåé íà ðàçîãðåâå ó "Kiss" âûøåë âòîðîé àëüáîì, "Shout at the devil", çàïèñàííûé ñ ïðîäþñåðîì Òîìîì Âåðìàíîì. Ïëàñòèíêà ñîäåðæàëà êëàññèêó ãëýì-ìåòàëëà "Looks that kill", "Bastard" è ñàì çàãëàâíûé òðåê. Âî âðåìÿ ïîñëåäóþùåãî òóðà ñ Îççè Îñáîðíîì "Motley Crue" ñâîèì ðàçãóëüíûì ïîâåäåíèåì çàðàáîòàëè ðåïóòàöèþ ñàìîé äèêîé êîìàíäû.  êîíöå 1984-ãî Âèíñ ïîïàë â àâàðèþ, íî îñòàëñÿ â æèâûõ, â òî âðåìÿ êàê åõàâøèé ñ íèì áàðàáàíùèê "Hanoi Rocks" ïîãèá. Âåðîÿòíî, èìåííî èç-çà ýòîãî èíöèäåíòà àëüáîì "Theatre of pain" âûãëÿäåë ìðà÷íåå ïðåäøåñòâåííèêà. Êàê áû òî íè áûëî, íî "Motley Crue" òåïåðü ïåðåøëè â êàòåãîðèþ õåäëàéíåðîâ, à èõ êîíöåðòû îòêðûâàëè òàêèå êîëëåêòèâû êàê "Cheap Trick" è "Whitesnake". Ãðóïïà ïðîäîëæàëà ïîêîðÿòü âûñîòû, âûïóñòèâ äâà çàìå÷àòåëüíûõ ïëàòèíîâûõ àëüáîìà, "Girls, girls, girls" è "Dr. Feelgood". Ãàñòðîëè ïðîõîäèëè íà óðà è ëþáûå êîíöåðòíûå ïëîùàäêè ñ ëåãêîñòüþ ïîêîðÿëèñü ìóçûêàíòàìè. Ïðè âñåì ýòîì íå îáõîäèëîñü áåç íåïðèÿòíîñòåé. Òàê, íàïðèìåð, â 1988-ì Íèêêè ÷óòü áûëî íå îòäàë êîíöû èç-çà ïåðåäîçèðîâêè ãåðîèíà, à ìåíåäæåð ãðóïïû Äîê ÌàêÄæè áûë àðåñòîâàí çà êîíòðàáàíäó ìàðèõóàíû. Ñâîå äåñÿòèëåòèå "Motley Crue" îòìåòèëè âûïóñêîì ñáîðíèêà "Decade of decadence", âêëþ÷àâøåãî ñòàðûå õèòû è ïàðî÷êó íîâûõ òðåêîâ. Íà ñëåäóþùèé ãîä êîìàíäó ïîêèíóë Âèíñ, îðãàíèçîâàâøèé ñâîé ïðîåêò "Vince Neil band". Íà ìåñòî Íåéëà ïðèãëàñèëè Äæîíà Êîðàáè, íî ïîñëå îäíîãî íåóäà÷íîãî àëüáîìà ñ íèì ïðèøëîñü ðàññòàòüñÿ.  1996-ì Âèíñ âåðíóëñÿ â êîëëåêòèâ, à íà ñëåäóþùèé ãîä âûøåë "Generation swine".  ïîääåðæêó àëüáîìà áûëî îðãàíèçîâàíî ãðàíäèîçíîå òóðíå, îäíàêî âíèìàíèå ïóáëèêè áûëî áîëüøå ïðèêîâàíî ê ñêàíäàëó, ðàçãîðåâøåìóñÿ âîêðóã Òîììè Ëè è åãî æåíû Ïàìåëû Àíäåðñîí. Íàêàíóíå âûõîäà ïåðâîãî êîíöåðòíèêà, "Entertainment or death", Ëè âñåðüåç ðàçðóãàëñÿ ñ Íåéëîì è õëîïíóë äâåðüþ. Ìåñòî óäàðíèêà çàíÿë Ðýíäè Êàñòèëëî, íî ó íåãî îáíàðóæèëèñü ïðîáëåìû ñî çäîðîâüåì, è äåëà ãðóïïû øëè íè øàòêî, íè âàëêî.  ìàðòå 2002-ãî Êàñòèëëî ñêîí÷àëñÿ îò ðàêà, è "Motley Crue" ôàêòè÷åñêè ðàñïàëèñü.
